I was born on March 21, 1975 in San Diego, California. I spent the first nine years of m ylife moving around, since my father was in the Navy. During those years, I lived in California, Japan, and Hawaii. When my father retired from the Navy in 1984, my family moved to Cheney, Washington. I lived in Cheney for nearly thirteen years. Not only did I graduate from high school and college in Cheney (earning a B.A. in Radio-Television from Eastern Washington University in 1996), I also met my future husband there. My husband and I now live in Enumclaw, Washington with our three children.
I began my first foray into writing at the age of eight, when I attempted to write a novel. In seventh grade, I entered the American Legion Auxiliary Essay Contest; not only did I come in first place for the local level (Cheney), I also placed first at the state level (Washington). As a teenager, I wrote poems, short stories, and studied animation scriptwriting. While I was in high school, I volunteered to write the "At Your Library" columns that appeared in the Cheney Free Press between January 1991 and August 1992. I learned to write for live-action television while in college, and even had a script produced for a summer college workshop class; in fact, I ended up portraying the lead character in my script, Fear of the Unknown. I also co-directed the other production during that summer college workshop.
During my college years, I also had involvement with two college radio stations: KOOP-AM (a carrier current station that broadcast to the dorms, where I was both a disc jockey and the promotions director) and KEWU-FM (Eastern Washington University's 10,000 watt jazz station, where I was a disc jockey). I also held several positions on the college's one-hour live television show, You're in Good Company (lighting, art segment producer, technical director, and director).
On the internet, I founded the TRULY OUTRAGEOUS! JEM Mailing List (an e-mail list devoted to the 1980's cartoon and doll Jem) in 1996, and I am also a former internet radio broadcaster. I have also served as the Lead News Editor for Digital Media FX. I currently serve as the Anime editor at BellaOnline.com; I maintain the AeschTunes: Talking about the artists, bands, and trends in the music business blog; and I have had work published at Helium.com and Associated Content.
